With the OPE network, CIGR Est was created in December 1997. Its meteoric rise in 2001 caused it to be divided into 2 distinct centers:

- the CIGR Kanton Réimech asbl, today named B.I.R.K. asbl,

- the CIGR Canton  Grevenmacher.

During its development, the location of the teams has changed several times and since 2005, the headquarters of the CIGR Canton Grevenmacher has been at the Potaschberg in Grevenmacher.

A solidarity economy experienced as a social responsibility for 20 years is the common thread of CIGR.

This model emphasizes justice, tolerance, respect, democracy and mutual support.

Everyone finds their place in society.
